MIB Browser

MIB browser is a usable program for working with network devices via the SNMP protocol. MIB browser allows you to view the hierarchy of SNMP MIB variables in the form of a tree and provides you with additional information about each node. Similar software has means for carrying out the SNMP GET, SNMP SET and SNMP WALK operations. Using them, you can read and set the values of SNMP variables on network devices. As a rule, MIB browsers feature a MIB compiler that allows you to compile text MIB files so that they can be presented in the form of a tree. Sometimes a MIB browser includes a full-featured editor for MIB modules.

WinAgents MIB Browser is a full-featured MIB browser with advanced features for visualizing and navigating the MIB tree. The interface of WinAgents MIB Browser is designed to minimize the number of actions necessary to carry out standard operations. When you view the MIB tree, the program automatically reads the values of the variables on the current node and displays them in the View panel. WinAgents MIB Browser implements the mechanism of polling SNMP variables. If polling is enabled, the program polls the selected SNMP variables at certain time intervals and displays changes in them in the View panel.

WinAgents MIB Browser supports working with SNMP tables. The program allows you to view these tables in a convenient way and add rows to them or remove rows from them.

The program processes MIB modules with its built-in MIB compiler. You can use it together with the editor of MIB modules to modify and compile MIB modules for viewing them in the MIB tree.

To help the network administrator with the initial configuration of the program, WinAgents MIB Browser contains means for network discovery. The Network Discovery Wizard allows you to search for equipment that supports SNMP. The administrator specifies the network range to be searched for devices, SNMP community strings for accessing devices and criteria for filtering the search results. This network range can be set by either using a range of IP addresses or specifying the distance for scanning as the number of hops. Discovery results can be filtered by a number of criteria, among which there is node name, its type, equipment manufacturer, etc. The found devices are added to the network scheme. WinAgents MIB Browser groups discovery results by the addresses of the networks where these devices are located.

WinAgents MIB Browser supports SNMPv1, SNMPv2 and SNMPv3. If SNMPv3 is used, the program support user authentication with the help of the MD5 and SHA hashes.
