Network monitoring / management
ServersCheck Monitoring is a tool for monitoring, reporting and alerting on network and systems availability. It has 60+ different types of checks to monitor almost anything running in your network. You can monitor devices, using any TCP Port (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, NNTP, POP3, SMTP, VNC, DNS, etc) and also perform database checks (ODBC, Oracle, MySQL), trap SNMP values (disk space, free memory, CPU usage, etc), verify content served from a web server and check NT services and process availability. If problems are detected, ServersCheck will alert you via SMS, e-mail, MSN and more. You can even send SMS messages back to the software. Monitoring Software runs as a local service and is administrated via a browser based interface. Additional features include alerts and graph output for long-term statistics tracking. The software can be extended with environmental sensors (temperature, humidity, power failure and water). This enables you to monitor your systems both from the inside and the outside.

Orion NPM enables you to quickly detect, diagnose, and resolve network performance problems and outages. Out-of-the-box, it offers network-centric views that are designed to deliver the critical information network engineers need. And Orion NPM is the easiest product of its kind to use and maintain, meaning you will spend more time actually managing networks, not supporting Orion NPM.
Orion NPM provides comprehensive performance, fault management and network availability tools to ensure that your network is always running at peak performance. Via a cutting-edge web interface, Orion NPM gives you a unified view into the performance of thousands of nodes and interfaces on your network. From a single web page, you can monitor performance metrics from any SNMP-enabled device, including routers, switches, firewalls and servers. Commonly monitored metrics include bandwidth utilization, packet loss, latency, errors, discards and quality of service.

PRTG Traffic Grapher is a Windows application for monitoring and classifying bandwidth usage. It provides system administrators with live readings and long-term usage trends for their network devices. PRTG is mainly used for bandwidth usage monitoring, but may also be used to monitor many other aspects of a network such as memory and CPU utilization. With PRTG Traffic Grapher the user receives bandwidth and network usage data that helps to optimize the efficiency of the network.
Understanding bandwidth and resource consumption is the key to better network management: Avoid bandwidth and server performance bottlenecks; Find out what applications or what servers use up your bandwidth; Deliver better quality of service to your users by being proactive; Reduce costs by buying bandwidth and hardware according to actual load. The Freeware Edition of PRTG Traffic Grapher is completely free for personal and commercial use and may be downloaded for free. PRTG Traffic Grapher is designed to run on a Windows machine in your network for 24 hours every day, and constantly records the network usage parameters. The recorded data is stored in an internal database for later reference. Using a Windows interface you can configure the monitored sensors as well as create usage reports. For remote access PRTG Traffic Grapher comes with a built-in web server to provide access to graphs and tables. All common methods for network usage data acquisition are supported: SNMP: Simple Network Management Protocol is the basic method of gathering bandwidth and network usage data. It can be used to monitor bandwidth usage of routers and switches port-by-port as well as device readings like memory, CPU load etc.

NetStat Agent
Listing updated: October 22, 2004
A tool for diagnosing network and monitoring network connections. Displays all your computer's inbound and outbound connections and lists all open ports, much like the standard Windows netstat command-line utility, but in graphical interface, with protocol statistics, network properties of the local computer. Helps to detect host's activity. It includes the following tools: Netstat displays list of network connections, including the information on open TCP and UDP ports, IP address, and connection states. Also it displays protocol statistics; Ping helps to detect computer's or host's activity; Tracer allows you to know what hops are being used to route a packet of data from your computer to the end point; Route retrieves the interface–to–IP address mapping table and the IP routing table.

Network Monitor runs permanently to monitor the machines on your network, for faults and changes. The Network Monitor can monitor the machines that you have previously audited, using the Network Auditor. It compares the hardware and software that it finds on these machines against what you have recorded in your Inventory and alerts you of changes.
Network Monitor will gather information on remote machines using the Remote Registry service, which is part of the Windows operating system. It will then compare this against the information that you have recorded in your inventory databases from the last time that the machine was audited, and alert you of any changes.
Alerts can be sent either directly to your e-mail (using any SMTP server) or, using PageGate, to any alphanumeric pagers, numeric pagers, cell phones, PIMs, billboards or pcmcia pager cards.
