ComPort/IP Utilities

RS232 to TCP/IP Converter and Data Logging.

ComPort/IP Utilities is a powerful yet easy-to-use software package allowing for remote access to serial port equipment and logging of data received from remote COM-ports.
With ComPort/IP Utilities working with COM-port (RS232) and TCP/IP data is easy as can be.

ComPort/IP Utilities allows for transferring data from COM-ports of a local computer to COM-ports of remote computer(s) using TCP/IP networks as well as for logging data received to a disk file on either local or remote computer.

Features

  • RS232 to TCP/IP converter allows for remote access to any COM-port equipments using Internet, LAN or any other TCP/IP connection;
  • Capability to save data received from local and remote serial port(s) into a disk file on either remote or local computer;
  • Capability to save data received from TCP/IP port into a disk file on either remote or local computer;
  • Capability to transfer data received from serial ports to other serial ports both on remote and local computers;
  • Allows any number of users access any serial port simultaneously;
  • Allows multiple users log the data to a disk file on either local or remote computer simultaneously;
  • Capability to password-protect connections to remote serial ports.

ComPort/IP Utilities package includes the following applications:

What can I do with ComPort/IP Utilities?

1. Access and manage any type of equipment connected to a remote computer serial port (RS232 to TCP/IP converter)

With help of ComPort/IP Server program, included in this package, you can remotely operate serial equipment using any telnet program (e.g. HyperTerminal)

2. Record data from serial port(s) of a remote computer

Use ComPort/IP Server, ComPort/IP Client and TCP-File programs combination in order to log data received from a remote computer. There are two methods available:

  Method #1

Start ComPort/IP Server on the computer with equipment connected to one of its serial ports. Configure TCP/IP port that will be used for sending data. Start TCP-File in a client mode on a remote computer and then enter TCP/IP address and port number of the computer running ComPort/IP Server. Now, browse for existing file or enter new filename to be used for logging.

  Method #2

Start ComPort/IP Client on the computer with equipment connected to one of its serial ports. Enter TCP/IP address and port number of a remote computer, where TCP-File will be run. Start TCP-File in a server mode on a remote computer and then select TCP/IP port number to be used for receiving data from ComPort/IP Client. Now, browse for existing file or enter new filename to be used for logging.

3. Log data received from local serial port(s) to a file

Serial-File program allows you to log data received from devices connected to local serial ports to a disk file. Simply select the port you wish to monitor and log from the list of available ports and enter filename to save log file under. Serial-File will do the rest!

4. Transfer data received from serial port(s) to remote computer(s)

Using ComPort/IP Server and ComPort/IP Client you can create a bridge between serial ports of local and remote computers. In order to do so, one should start ComPort/IP Server on one machine and then specify appropriate serial port and TCP/IP port settings. After that, all that is left to do is run ComPort/IP Client on another machine, specify remote serial port you want to connect to as well as TCP/IP address and port of remote computer.

5. Log TCP/IP data

Use TCP-File program to log data received from any kind of equipment that has a TCP/IP address (Cisco routers, etc.)
