Get the Classic Taskbar Back

Make the taskbar button labels visible again, so you can better distinguish between open programs and windows.

Microsoft made a brave move with Windows 7. They have hidden the taskbar button labels by default. This leaves you with only icons to distinguish between the programs and windows you have open. If this isn’t enough, you can get back the classic taskbar with labels; here’s how:

  1. Right-click the taskbar and select Properties.
  2. Check the Use Small Icons option.
  3. Change the Taskbar Buttons option from Always Combine, Hide Labels to Never Combine.
  4. Click OK to save changes and check out the toolbar.

If you want, you can also move, remove, or add pinned shortcuts to the taskbar.
