I have seen lots of messages on newsgroups about network browsing from a Windows 2000 getting quite slow when browsing resources on Windows Win9x or Windows ME. The delay is caused by the W2K computer taking time to determine if scheduled tasks are enabled on the destination computer. Delete the following subkey:

Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RemoteComputer\NameSpace\
Subkey: {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}

Although I haven't seen reports, this probably effects XP also and this registry hack should help XP also.
