Getting tired of seeing Windows NT build number? Remove it with the following Windows 2000 registry hack:

Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Key: Control Panel\Desktop\
Name: PaintDesktopVersion
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0

Opps! Sorry - this hack does not work on W2K later than RC1.

One method to eliminate the build number is to turn on Active Desktop / Show Web Content option (right click desktop).

Tweakui has the option to eliminate the build number:

General|Effects|Show Windows Version on Desktop
