Virtual Machine Additions greatly improve the performance of any virtual machine. However, we must not forget to update them from time to time.
When you are dealing with virtual machines it is very important to install the virtual machine additions package on all of your VM’s. This can provide massive performance increases, as well as provide a system that is more stable. What most people seem to forget however, is that these VM additions are very version specific and must be upgraded manually. For instance, when you upgrade from Virtual Server 2005 to Virtual Server 2005 R2, it is very important to reinstall the VM additions package to all of your virtual machines in order to reap their full benefits.
