Windows Management Instrumentation is Microsoft's implementation of the Web-based Enterprise Management (WBEM) industry-standard management architecture. WBEM attempts to develop a common interface for accessing management information in an enterprise environment. WMI includes support for querying the system for information on event log, performance, and SNMP. It is easily scripted in any Windows Script Host-compatible scripting language.
