Windows XP Connect via ADSL to the Internet
You have defined your Connection to the
Internet and verified the setup of the
connection,
and are now ready to connect to the Internet :
Select from the Start-Menu : Settings /
Network Connections and then your
connection
(like for a modem connection ) :

or you can call you again the
Network Connections and select
your connection, then select in
"Network Tasks" : "Start this
Connection"
or simply double-click on your connection |

It will show your Username.
for my connection, it was required to
append to the username "@SKYNET",
to allow the server at my phone-company
to connect me to my ADSL Internet provider.

You will hear nothing (unlike then connecting via a
modem),
while you get connect to your ISP. |

your username and password are verified. |
 |
If username and password are ok, you will get
a connection icon in your taskbar. |

Right-click the taskbar icon to get the menu. |

A quick look at the "Status":
tab: General
It displays the connection time,
the amount of data transferred and it
allows to "Disconnect"

tab: Details
It displays the network parameters,
including the IP-address assigned to you
for this connection by your ISP. |

Once you are done, don't forget to disconnect : Right-click on
the taskbar icon, then: "Disconnect" :
