Windows XP Desktop Theme / Color
Windows XP is designated by
Microsoft to use by default a new desktop theme :
 |
Colorful and in lots of blue shades !
But screen-dumps of such colorful
windows are big, taking a lot of
webserver space and (more important)
take very long to download. |
 |
There I am not using the
new
Windows XP desktop theme.
In the "Display Properties"
(right-click on an unused are of
the desktop),
tab : "Themes", I
changed first the
theme to "Windows Classic". |
 |
Windows XP does NOT support anymore
a color resolution of 256 colors, you have to
use 16-bit or higher color resolutions.
Screen-dumps with the sliding colors in the
windows title look nice, but cause also large
graphic-files and therefore long download times. |
 |
I have therefore configure my Windows
XP-system to use a reduced color system,
looking very much the same as the
256-color resolution of Windows9x
or Windows NT4.
|
Screendumps of such windows are
much smaller and therefore download/display much quicker
and have therefore been used to document Windows XP procedures on
this website.
