With its hardened Linux operating system, non Sendmail-based SMTP MTA software, and a configurable caching DNS server, the Meridius Security Gateway appliance includes several anti-spam and counter-intrusion technologies such as address spoof tests, virus protection, realtime recurrent pattern detection (RPD) engine and blacklist queries, heuristic text analyses, and collaboration with various leading peer-to-peer spam detection networks such as Vipul’s Razor.

BlueCat Networks’ Meridius Security Gateway appliance is a dedicated mail transfer agent (MTA) and relay appliance designed to send, receive and deliver email messages to and from other MTAs, mail user agents and mail servers, and to protect a company’s email server (the device that stores users’ email) from potential external attacks and viruses, hijacks and spam.
