What is PoS malware?

PoS terminals are among the most vulnerable spots in retailers’ infrastructure for a number of technical reasons.

Last week I posted an update on PCI Security Standards latest release of information regarding card skimming prevention. Based on the same topic, today I would like to share with you a related post by Kaspersky about what is PoS malware and why does it cost millions.

The main objective of POS malware is to parse memory of Point of Sale terminals to find and steal data in the format of a card number, etc., before it is encrypted – on the device or a server.
